Worldwide operations
Airlec Ambulance provides fast worldwide deployment thanks to its diverse fleet of aircraft. Our global experience in Asia, America, Africa, Europe, Pacific and the Middle East allows for Airlec to respond to emergency situations anywhere in the world. With a broad portfolio of doctors, Airlec is able to provide reliable and safe transportation matching all of its clients’ needs.
Neonatal and paediatric intensive care
A paediatric team provides intensive care to infants and new-borns. The repatriation and emergency resuscitation of premature and term infants or children with septic shock, cardiogenic shock or respiratory distress thoroughly cared for by Airlec’s specialist team. The medical crew has access to a full range of onboard equipment, including incubators, paediatric ventilators, multiparameter monitoring, onboard laboratories and electronic station syringes allow for the doctors and nurses to provide the utmost care necessary.
Intensive care
A significant proportion (25%) of the patients we repatriated had a Glasgow Coma Score (GCS) of
less than 7 and require intensive care and life support. Respiratory support is provided on board using the most appropriate ventilation techniques. Hospital acquired multi-resistant bacterial infections are dealt with following strict internal procedures and materials such as an isolation stretcher.
Bariatric
Airlec can handle patients up to 440 lbs thanks to the introduction of mechanical and electrical loading ramps. We can also utilize a cargo door with a width of 92 cm (36 inches) on our Citation II aircraft.
Emerging infectious diseases and agents
A unit of six doctors and nurses trained for CBRN-E risk has a negative-pressure isolation stretcher and bio-hazard suits. Airlec successfully transferred nearly all European victims of the Ebola virus outbreak of winter 2014-2015, evidence of its strict protocols and professionalism. Decontamination and disinfection procedures meet the highest standards.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 Airlec has established itself as a market leader in infectious disease transport, with more than 550 patients repatriated so far.
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
A surgical team consisting of a heart surgeon, a perfusionist , an anaesthetist and an intensive care nurse is available for any repatriation of patient in ARDS or cardiogenic shock. Our team performs veno venous or arteriovenous cannulation at the bedside. Our aircraft are equipped with specially designed ECMO technical platforms, along with a dedicated in-house machine & consumables.
